Dangote Refinery has announced the reduction of its premium motor spirit retail price nationwide and its readiness to commence direct supply to filling stations on Monday, September 15, 2025.

The initiative, which Dangote Group had earlier announced would kick off on August 15, 2025, would see the $20 billion plant distribute petrol and diesel to consumers with its 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks at zero logistics cost.

According to a statement from the refinery, the new gantry price has been fixed at N820 per litre but the retail pump price will be different depending on states. Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti are expected to retail petrol at N841 per litre while Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo, and Kwara will sell at N851 per litre.

The Group spokesman, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday which reads:

“We are starting the free fuel distribution scheme on Monday. We will start with Lagos and the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers and Edo States. There will be a drop in price effective from Monday when the free distribution starts,” he said.

In order to facilitate this process, 1,000 trucks have now been received by the refinery to aid the distribution exercise, with more states expected to be included as additional trucks arrive in Nigeria.

According to the refinery, this initiative comes with additional benefit of free delivery to registered petrol station owners nationwide.

It therefore invited petrol station owners nationwide to register for free delivery and other benefits. Interested marketers are to contact the refinery through its official sales channels.

Meanwhile, this development which marks a significant step in the downstream petroleum sector came hours after the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers (NUPENG) placed its members on “red alert” following the decision by the Dangote Group to renege on an earlier agreement brokered by the federal government.
