Osun State Government has announced the appointment of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as part of efforts to reposition and revitalise the state’s sports sector.
The move which reflects Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure in the state, will require Davido to mobilise resources to drive the development and modernisation of sports facilities across Osun State.
While confirming the appointment, the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, who is also the Commissioner for Sports, said the award-winning singer was excited about the role and immediately accepted the offer.
“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed in the shortest possible time. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi said.
Speaking further, Adewusi said that the newly introduced Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, would bring investments and support from sports lovers and philanthropists within and outside the state to ensure sustainable sports financing.
“Davido’s involvement is expected to attract substantial funds that will significantly impact the growth of sports in Osun,” Adewusi added.
