Buba Galadima who is a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has charged Tinubu Government to protect school children and not to close schools because of insecurity.

Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, Galadima who acknowledged the various challenges that confronted state governments in choosing between safeguarding students from insecurity and making sure that they receive the education they deserve, said it is shameful to close schools.

He said, “In the first place, it is shameful to close down schools. It’s shameful on the government, and every person in the administration and us. You cannot close down schools. What you will do is how to protect the schools.

“The government should forget about physical security; we have passed that stage. We need to deploy technology to detect things even before they happen. We also need to set up special squads to deal with issues even before they spring up.”

Recently, many states in Northern Nigeria announced the close down of schools including the Federal Government closure of 41 unity colleges due to the sudden rise in kidnapping across many states.
