The former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has said that the purported reason for his resignation which is now circulating in a viral video is false.
Badaru said his attention was drawn to an online post that said he resigned because he cannot stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.
In an official statement on Tuesday, he said the story was gormulated to damage his reputation and create the impression that he was in conflict with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I wish to state categorically and unequivocally that this publication is entirely false, deliberately mischievous, and did not originate from me or from any authorized representative.”
According to him, the people behind the report wanted to destroy his reputation and create friction between him and President Tinubu.
He disclosed that the actual reasons for his resignation had already been officially communicated to President Tinubu and made public through traditional and social media.
Any suggestion of an alternative or inflammatory motive is a complete falsehood engineered by mischief makers,” he said.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I wish to reassure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, and the good people of Nigeria that I remain firmly committed to the peace, security, and stability of our nation,” he said.
Badaru, who resigned his position on Monday on health ground has been replaced by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (retd.) as the new Minister of Defence.
He however pledged his full dedication to the success of APC at all levels and particularly towards the 2027 general elections.
