Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has said that some of the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may soon resign from the party.

He disclosed this on Wednesday while answering questions in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

Fayose made this revelation following the recent resignation of Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, from the PDP and the defection of Peter Mbah of Enugu State to All Progressive Congress.

He said that the opposition party may soon be left with only five governors as internal crises continue to rock the party.

“Let me tell you, there are three more governors that will leave soon. There will be five remaining. The five remaining, one of them will struggle to catch the ticket and they all know that the ticket is an ordinary tissue paper,” Fayose said.

Maintaining that he wouldn’t be among those who will resurrect PDP as a dead party, he stated that it would be unfair to blame Tinubu for the various defections going on because as leaders, they are supposed to put their house in order.

“President Tinubu should not be blamed for PDP’s problems. The PDP is sick and remains perpetually sick without a cure in view. Those who killed the party know themselves,” Fayose said.

He lamented that those defecting are largely killing the party through the repetition of what happened in 2023.
