The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Wednesday.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.
The minister appealed to Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of forgiveness, selflessness, forbearance, and love, which the life of Christ demonstrated.

He also called on citizens to remain committed to the values of tolerance and community spirit, noting that such virtues are vital for strengthening national unity.
The minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to policies aimed at promoting national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

“The goal of the government remains taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians,” he said.
