Governor Yusuf of Kano Sets to join APC Again

Following the resignation of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State from the New Nigeria Peoples Party on Friday, he will officially register again, as a member of the All Progressives Congress on Monday.

This was revealed on Sunday by the spokesperson to the governor’s, Sunusi  Dawakin-Tofa.

According to the statement, Governor Yusuf first joined the APC in 2014 when he secure the party’s primary election for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, but later conceded to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

According to the statement, the governor’s decision to return to the APC was informed after years of political engagement across different platforms, including his most recent stint in the NNPP, prevailing realities of governance, national cohesion and development.

Describing APC as a familiar platform for progressive governance, Yusuf said rejoining the party would further strengthen partnership with the Federal Government, enhance security coordination, accelerate infrastructural development and improve service delivery across Kano State.

“Rejoining the APC will further strengthen cooperation with the Federal Government, accelerate infrastructural development, enhance security coordination and improve service delivery across Kano State,” the statement said.

On Monday, the governor will register with 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, 8 members of the House of Representatives and the 44 local government chairmen in the state.

Thereafter, the governor is expected to officially flag off the APC electronic registration exercise in Kano same day.
