Jigawa Building Collapse Claims One Life, Left Many Injured

A building collapse in Kabak village, Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa State has claimed one life and left seven others injured.

The incident, which happened at midnight on September 6, was said to have been caused by structural weaknesses worsened by continuous rainfall over the week.

The Information Officer of Kirikasamma Local Government Council, Musa Muhammad Hadejia, who confirmed the incident, said five of the injured persons were currently receiving treatment in a local hospital, while two have been treated and discharged.

“Seven people sustained serious injuries, and sadly, we lost one person in the incident. The council is monitoring the situation closely, and support has been extended to all victims,” He said.

The Chairman of the Local Council, Muhammad Marma, was said to have visited the site of the tragedy and the victims at the hospital and expressed deep sympathy for those affected and extended financial support to aid their recovery.

“This is a painful loss for our community. We stand with the victims and their families during this difficult time. The council has donated N500,000 to cover medical expenses for the injured, and an additional N100,000 to support the family of the deceased,” Marma said
