Many people were said to have lost their lives with others sustained degrees of injuries in the explosions that took place on Monday evening in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.
According to a reliable source, the explosions occurred between about 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m with loud sounds from the Monday Market and around Post Office and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital areas.
The sounds were said to have generated panic among the people of the area.

The Head of Operations of the Federal Fire Service in Borno State, Mohammed Kafaran, confirmed to Punch that the agency had deployed its team to the scene.
“Yes, there was a bomb explosion at the Monday Market area around Elkanemi. We have deployed our team there to assess the situation. We will get back to you shortly,” Kafaran said.

It was also reported that there were many dead bodies on the ground while many with wounds have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri.
