Manchester City have defeated Arsenal 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley thereby claiming the first piece of silverware of this season.
Gunners came into the game still in the hunt for four trophies while Man City saw their chances of winning the Quadruple end in midweek after they were eliminated from the Champions League last 16 by Real Madrid.
After a goaless opening 45 minutes with few chances at Wembley, Man City upped the tempo and scored at the hour mark after a bad mistake from Gunners stand-in goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga.

Kepa could get only his fingertips to Rayan Cherki’s cross, and O’Reilly beat Martin Zubinmendi to the loose ball for a simple close-range header.
O’Reilly headed in the second to seal victory for City, who remain nine points behind Arsenal in the Premier League.

This victory can still inspire Man City to overhaul a nine-point deficit to the Gunners in the Premier League while Arsenal’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple may be over with their six-year wait for a trophy continues.
