Nigeria’s CP Ojajuni Wins Election into INTERPOL Africa committee

Commissioner of Police (CP), Olubode Ijajuni, has successfully emerged in the keenly contested election for membership of the INTERPOL Africa Committee.

The election, held during the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, won for Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee with a tenure of two years.

This was made available to newsmen in a statement in Abuja on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The statement revealed that the election, which took place at the just concluded 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, secured for Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee with a tenure of two years.

“The INTERPOL Africa Committee is vested with the responsibility of advising the African Regional Conference in the execution of its mandate, facilitating its sessions and identifying strategic crime priorities. It also strengthens police cooperation across borders, advances best practices, and develops projects aimed at enhancing regional and continental security”.

It stated further that this achievement is a demonstration of Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.

It revealed that with Ojajuni’s victory, Nigeria would continue to play vital roles in shaping regional and global policing strategies under the INTERPOL framework.

The statement further stated that Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, congratulated CP Ojajuni on the achievement and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police to professionalism, integrity and international cooperation.
