Ogunsakin Signs 2026 Appropriation Bill into Law

The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government in Ondo State, Andrew Ogunsakin, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking a decisive step toward consolidating people-centred governance and accelerated grassroots development.

Titled “Our Ease II,” the budget which built on the gains of the previous fiscal year is also aimed at deepening the administration’s commitment to service delivery, infrastructure renewal and economic empowerment.

The chairman described the 2026 budget as a strategic roadmap designed to ease the burdens of citizens, strengthen institutions, and stimulate sustainable growth across the local government.

According to the approved estimates, the total expected revenue for the 2026 fiscal year stands at ₦7,103,493,054.80, with ₦4,636,709,350.39 allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦2,466,750,000.00 is set aside for capital expenditure.

Ogunsakin noted that the emphasis on capital spending is a reflection of his adminiration’s determination to translate policies into visible dividends, particularly in road rehabilitation, market development, education support, healthcare improvement and youth and women empowerment initiatives.

Appreciating members of the Legislative Council, heads of departments, and critical stakeholders for their cooperation so far, he assured the people of Okitipupa that the implementation of the budget would be guided by transparency, accountability and inclusiveness.

“As we enter 2026, this budget represents our collective resolve to make governance felt at the grassroots. “Our Ease II” is about stability today and opportunity tomorrow”, he affirmed.

With the signing of the Appropriation Bill, the Okitipupa Local Government is now set to commence full implementation of the 2026 budget, reinforcing its pledge to deliver meaningful progress and improved quality of life for all residents.

In attendance were the Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Dada Adeleke Akingboye; the Secretary to the Local Government, Barr.Femi Oladokun; the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Budgeting, Hon. Folorunso Lebifo; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Mr. Saka Kadri and the Clerk of the Legislative Council, Mr. Ajimibi Iyanu.
