Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of the car that was involved in the accident that claimed two members of Anthony Joshua’s entourage, has been arraigned before a Sagamu Magistrate Court.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Friday.
According to the police command, Kayode, was charged on Thursday, January 2, 2026 but the case was adjourned to January 20 for further proceedings.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged at the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.”
The accident which occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near Sagamu, involved a Lexus SUV carrying British boxer Anthony Joshua and members of his team and a stationary truck on the highway.
While two members of his support team in the car were confirmed dead, Joshua, who was also in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was later discharged from the hospital.
