In a fresh move, Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have resolved to continue with their decision to remove the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara as the four lawmakers who had initially withdrawn their support for the impeachment now gave it.

Earlier, Sylvanus Nwankwo (Omuma), Peter Abbey (Degema), Barile Nwakoh (Khana I) and Emilia Amadi (Obio/Akpor II), withdrawn from the process to embrace dialogue.

On Friday, the four lawmakers reversed their decision at plenary session because according to them, the governor and his deputy have continued to be hostile to the lawmakers and have refused every calls for dialogue.

This therefore prompted the Assembly to vote unanimously to continue with the impeachment which Martin Amaewhule said was in line with Section 188(5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Meanwhile, the Assembly disclosed through its spokesperson and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Hon. Dr. Enemi Alabo George, that the Chief Judge of the state has received and acknowledged the official letter conveying notices of alleged gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu.

He said all relevant documents, including the notices containing the allegations against the governor and his deputy, were attached to the correspondence.

Governor Fubara and the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu have been accused of intimidating and blackmailing lawmakers.
