Oyo town in Oyo State on Sunday welcomed many dignitaries including business and political leaders to witness the installation of Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade.
The traditional title, which is one of the high ranking chiefs in the land was conferred on him on Sunday, December 21, 2025, during a colourful ceremony at the Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo Town.

Culturally, the conferred chieftaincy title has among others, the function of promoting Yoruba culture by advising the Alaafin on traditional matters, promoting education, enhancing social welfare and fostering unity across Yorubaland.
The event was a sea of dignitaries, particularly the political class which include the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and traditional rulers across Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Olawale Edun were also in attendance.
Seyi Tinubu, is the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Sequel to his father’s assumption of office as the president of Nigeria, Seyi has been working round the clock from one corner of Nigeria to another, bridging the gap of ethnic divides and promoting unity among different tribes.
