President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially decorated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance at a brief ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.
Oyedele’s inauguration followed his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate last week after the approval of his nomination by lawmakers through a voice vote during plenary.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement made available to journalists.
Before his appointment as a minister, Oyedele, served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he played a significant role in the review of Nigeria’s tax system.

Born 50 years ago, Oyedele began his academic journey at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance and later a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Oyedele took part in an executive education programmes at London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He joined PwC in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Additionally, he serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is also a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
