Tinubu nominates Former First Lady, Chioma Ohakim, Ibas as Ambassadors

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a new batch of non-career ambassadorial nominee to the Senate which include the former first lady of Imo State, Chioma Ohakim and the former sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.

Among the people in the list are former senator Ita Enang, Abdulrahman Dambazau, a former Minister of Interior and ex–Chief of Army Staff.

Godswill Akpabio read out the new nominees during Thursday’s plenary.

Tinubu Appealed to lawmakers to speed up the confirmation process to enable the government fill important diplomatic positions without unnecessary delay.

Subsequently, he directed the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to screen all nominees and submit its report within one week.

This development comes days after the President nominated Reno Omokri, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and immediate past INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu as ambassadors
