King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal popularly known as KWAM 1, has wholeheartedly tendered public apology to Nigerians over his misbehavior at the Local Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The incident which took place earlier last week and generated public outcry against the music star’s unruly behaviour with the staff of Value Jet Airline despite his international exposure, has made Nigerians to see the music maestro in a different light.
But in order to redeem his public image, KWAM 1 has in a viral video tendered public apology on his behaviour at the airport.
In a personally signed statement on Friday, the singer expressed regret over his action but reiterated that the content of the flask he carried on the day was water and not alcohol as alleged.
“The incident is highly regrettable because I have contributed the better part of my life in the last fifty years to the growth and development of Nigeria through art and culture in and out of the country. I have been a good ambassador to this country in many ways.
“Somebody like me should not be found with such incident. I accept full responsibility and I appeal to Mr President, the country, the Honourable Minister for Aviation, FAAN, NCAA and my fans across the globe to please pardon my behaviour.”
The Juju genius explained that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled with water at the Airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac.
“I passed through two check posts and the content of my cup was screened until I got to the lounge. While awaiting the boarding of the aircraft I pour water in it because of my health situation. I need to be sipping water because I am dehydrated as recommended by my doctor.”
KWAM 1 further apologised to the President, Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, ValueJet, and Nigerians at large.
“Once again, I seek forgiveness from Mr President, the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who is also my father and father of the nation, the Honourable Minister for Aviation, the pilot, the airline staff, passengers and above all, my fans across the globe and my family for the incident.”
He added that he remained committed to his role as a cultural ambassador for Nigerian music.
“My love for the country is unshakeable. I am still the darling ambassador of our nation and I will continue to carry the banner of this nation everywhere all my life.”
