Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule with other allies of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, have been declared winners of the House of Representatives primaries held across the State.

In the election which took place on Saturday in the state’s federal constituencies, four candidates said to be loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, including three serving members of the House of Representatives were disqualified.
However, APC cleared 20 other aspirants to participate in the contest.

The results were declared at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt by the chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee, Wahab Owokoniran.
Amaewhule who was unopposed for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency 1, won with 17,968 votes to clinch the party’s ticket.

Many among other candidates who won and secured the tickets of the party were also unopposed.
For instance in Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 1, sole aspirant Igwe Precious polled 5,885 votes but Dumnamene Dekor retained control of Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency after defeating Israel Ngbuelo by 17,073 votes to 1,220.
Cyril Hart defeated Philemon Tombodiea in Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, while Felix Nweke ran unopposed in Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo.

In Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency, Isobo Solomon recorded a comfortable victory over Luke Enerine while Chukwuemele Obuzor won Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni.
Others who emerged Victorious are: Blessing Amadi for Port Harcourt Constituency 2, Linda Steward for Okrika/Ogu-Bolo, Solomon Bob for Abua/Odual/Ahoada East, Fredrick Apiafi for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro, Chibuzor Nwamaka for Etche/Omuma and Joy Nyebuchi for Ikwerre/Emuoha,
Describing the elections as peaceful, Owokoniran said the process is in contrast to the rumour about political violence in the State.
“We have declared all constituency results. The exercise was conducted peacefully. There was no violence, no rancour and no disruption,” he said.
