Famous Nigeria actor, Olarenwaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom from prison after the Court of Appeal judgment overturned his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor.
The Nollywood actor was released on Friday, November 14, 2025, after spending over three years in custody over alleged sexual assault.
In a now circulating video obtained on Saturday, the comic actor was seen sitting in a vehicle shortly after his release, expressing relief and noting that he needed rest.
Actor Yomi Fabiyi, who announced Baba Ijesha’s released on his Instagram page on Friday evening, said that he was freed after being cleared by the Appeal Court.
“You are now officially FREE AND OUT. Baba Ijesha is not just back but BETTER. I am also happy you were cleared by the APPEAL COURT of ever having sex/defile any child/minor. The 7-year-old story is a charade. We live in a terrible world, where sentiments and wickedness rise above the rule of law and truth.”
The actor was arrested in 2021 and in July 2022, the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja sentenced him to 16 years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty on multiple counts relating to the assault of a 14-year-old girl.
