Thursday was a bad day in Lagos when a two-storey building that was undergoing manual demolition collapsed in Aboru, Alimosho Local Government Area, killing one person.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said the building collapsed around midnight at No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, in the Alimosho area of the state.
The agency said its emergency response team arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call and found workers trapped beneath the rubble with an adult male recovered dead from beneath the collapsed structure.

Two adult males were rescued and given first aid before being taken to a nearby health facility for further medical attention.

LASEMA appealed to residents and developers to comply with building regulations and engage certified professionals for demolition and construction activities.
