Following the crash of an helicopter in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it has commenced search and rescue operations.
Disclosing this on Monday, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred on 5 October 2026.
As rescue operation continued with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies, the identity of the helicopter and the number of people on board could not be immediately ascertained.
A community leader, who spoke in confidence, confirmed the crash but said residents were yet to establish the exact location and other details.
he said, “Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details.”
