Bandits have again launched a serious attack on the military camp in the Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three soldiers.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed this on Monday during a fresh attack by suspected bandits on the Kemanji community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The governor praised the fallen soldiers in a Facebook post on Monday evening for gallantly repelling the attackers and preventing further casualties.
“At about 3 a.m. today, we lost three gallant soldiers as they courageously beat back a terrorist attack on their position in Kemanji, Kaiama.
“These brave men not only repelled the terrorists and prevented them from accessing the community, but they also ensured that no one was kidnapped as the terrorists had intended,” AbdulRazaq said.

A local source told our correspondent that the attackers allegedly launched an explosive device at a military formation in the area, causing significant damage before advancing into the community.
“Our security agents engaged them in a fierce gun duel that lasted till about 5 a.m.,” the source said.

After the attack, angry youths in the area called for a suspension of political activities, describing the incident as a moment of collective grief.

The statement release in this regard reads: “All political postings are hereby suspended till further notice. This is a moment of national grief. Bandits have killed our soldiers in Kemanji, under the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
“These men died protecting us. We mourn with their families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the people of Kemanji. May Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest. No politics. We stand with our troops.”
A resident in the area said: “The situation is heartbreaking. People are running for their lives, and no one can say for sure how many have been killed.”
Another resident said: “This is a moment of grief. Our soldiers died protecting us. We stand with their families and the Nigerian Armed Forces,” the youths said in a statement.
Bandit on April 10, 2026, reportedly killed five members of the National Forest Guard in Nuku village and set patrol vehicles ablaze.
Also in February, gunmen attacked Woro and Nuku communities in the same area, leaving over 200 persons dead and about 176 others abducted, including women and children.
