The Governance Advisory Council (GAC) has unanimously endorsed and adopted the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat as the candidate for the 2027 elections in Lagos State.
This was disclosed on Tuesday at Lagos House Marina by Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi who spoke on behalf of the GAC.

GAC, which is the highest decision-making body of the Lagos State APC, announced its decision on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, in a post on X.
Partly, the statement reads: “The Governance Advisory Council unanimously endorsed and adopted the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr obafemi hamzat to be consensus candidate for the 2027 elections in Lagos State,” he wrote.

The statement further confirmed that members of the council also purchased Hamzat’s nomination form.
“Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi spoke on behalf of the GAC, today at the Lagos House Marina. The GAC members also announced that they paid for his nomination form.
“The endorsement signals growing alignment within the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.”

As earlier reported by CrowMedia, GAC announcement was sequel to the endorsement of Hamzat by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as his preferred successor in Alausa.
“Today, I received my Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat , as he formally shared his intention to run for Governor of Lagos State. We have worked closely for over 21 years and I know his strength, his capabilities and his steady commitment to the people of Lagos.
“Femi’s understanding of governance and the socio-economic development of the State as nurtured by our leader, HE President Bola Tinubu, makes him, undoubtedly the best man for the job.

“Lagos is too important to be left for experimenting. I, therefore have no doubt that with his values, he will continue to work tirelessly to make our state greater,” Sanwo Olu said.
As this endorsement points to the decision of APC in Lagos on who becomes the governor of the state in 2027, some aspirants under the party may definitely be opposed to this unanimous decision.
The reactions of different candidates to GAC and by extension APC decision will therefore make the coming days in the metropolitan city interesting.
