Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ready to stand down from his role at the Etihad Stadium following Sunday’s meeting with Aston Villa on the final day of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
According to Daily Mail, he will officially stand down as Manchester City manager after Sunday’s final Premier League game of the 2025/26 season against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola arrived Manchester City manager 10 years ago and has since won 20 trophies, including the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season.
In total, the 55-year-old has led City to six league titles, including an unprecedented four in succession.

He is the first manager to take Man City to its first Champions League triumph since creation
The timing of Guardiola’s exit comes with the outcome of an investigation into more than 100 alleged breaches by City of financial regulations still to be released.

AFPsaid he was first charged by the Premier League in February 2023, and an independent commission hearing concluded in December 2024 with the case hanging over City’s achievements on the pitch ever since.
Club hierarchy have reportedly begun notifying sponsorship partners, with the official announcement timed ahead of a planned open-top bus parade on Monday.

With the departure of the greatest manager in the club’s history now a reality, Manchester City will face a historic administrative headache as sporting director Hugo Viana must immediately trigger contingency plans to finding suitable replacement.
Rumours are already swirling around high-profile elite coaches across Europe, but replacing a man who has collected 20 trophies over a decade remains an effectively impossible task.
