The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has arrested two of their candidates and a parent for falsifying 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results using Artificial Intelligence.
This was announced on Friday as the board released scores for 632,788 candidates who werote the examination on Thursday, April 16.
According to JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the suspects were arrested for manipulating official SMS result notifications to alter scores with the intent to deceive others candidates and their parents. guardians.

“Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means,” the statement read.
Cautioned candidates against meddling with result messages from JAMB’s official SMS platforms, 55019 and 66019, Benjamin warned that such conduct is a criminal offence and the board is ready to pursue anybody involved with the full extent of the law.
He explained that candidates can check their scores by sending UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the phone number linked to their registration.

he further said that printing of official result slips is not yet available and will be enabled at a later date.
2026 UTME started on April 16 and will last till April 22 across examination centres nationwide.
Results will continue to be released in batches as the exercise progresses.
