The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has invited two of the leading candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join its platform and pick the presidential and vice presidential tickets to contest the 2027 elections.
The party on its X handle on Sunday enticed Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to join its platform and secure the presidential ticket.

In the post which featured a photo of Obi shaking hands with Kwankwaso, with the caption: “Nigeria will be OK,” NDC said all we need right now is just two weeks to the deadline.
Just last week, supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso launched the “OK Movement” to rally support for a possible joint ticket of the two politicians ahead of the 2027 elections.

Already, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed May 30, 2026, as the deadline for parties to submit their membership registers and nominate candidates for the 2027 elections but some political parties have called on INEC to extend the deadline for party primaries to the end of July.
Such parties include the ADC, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction, chaired by Kabiru Turaki because according to them, the current timetable set by the electoral body was designed to disadvantage them.
ADC leaders have called on the national leadership of the APC and the presidency to respond to the allegation of mounting pressure on the Supreme Court to deliver judgment against the opposition coalition party on the leadership tussle before them.

According to them, APC led presidency have explanations to give to Nigerians on the alleged leakage of the Supreme Court’s decision and the pressure on the Justices of the Supreme Court to give an unfavourable decision against the ADC.
The spokesperson of the stakeholders christened Grassroots for Mobilisation Network (GMN), Peter Emeka, made this request in Abuja when he said “the whole world is watching the ongoing shenanigans about the fate of opposition parties in the country.”
He said such allegation should not be swept under the carpet: “It is surprising that, up to this moment, the APC and the presidency have not responded to the allegation, which in itself, suggests admission that the information is correct.
“If the APC and the presidency do not come forward and address the allegations of interference, then the country is doomed. Such action could lead to collapse of the judiciary.”
He appealed to the international community to intervene over what he called an abuse of power and total disregard to the rule of law.
